Fort (da)Installation
Chiffon, Clay Slip, Wood 2021 This piece was created for a Pop-Up Exhibtion titled, Where We Are Not, that I helped curate. I feel like I have two modes of creating, one where I get very technical and spend hours working on creating a piece with my hands, and one where I spend hours researching, reading and developing a concept, but the actual making of the piece comes together very quickly. This was definitely the latter. I made a “fort” of sorts out of a gossamer cloth structure. The individual panels were dipped into raw clay and allowed to dry and slowly disintegrate. This installation examines the temporality of life and the idea of imaginative safe spaces that can be used to escape and process trauma through the act of repetition. |
